Family Friendly Recipes: Power Pocket Dumplings
Power Pocket Dumplings

In Chinese culture, dumplings are shaped like ancient gold ingots (called yuanbao), which were used as currency hundreds of years ago.
That’s why eating dumplings during Lunar New Year symbolizes wealth and prosperity — you’re literally “eating gold.”
Ingredients:
1 lb ground chicken or turkey (lean protein)
1 cup very finely chopped cabbage
½ cup shredded carrots
2 green onions (chopped)
1 tablespoon grated ginger (or ½ tsp powder if you’re in dad-mode)
2 cloves garlic (or 1 tsp powder)
1 tablespoon coconut aminos or low-sodium soy sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional but great flavor)
Dumpling wrappers (or use lettuce leaves for lower carb option)
👊 Step 1: Mix
Throw everything (except wrappers) in a bowl.
Let the kids mix it with clean hands.
🥟 Step 2: Fill
Put about 1 tablespoon of filling in the center of each wrapper
Wet the edge with water.
Fold and press closed.
🔥 Step 3: Cook (Pan method - best texture):
Heat a little avocado oil in a pan.
Place dumplings flat side down.
Cook 2–3 minutes until golden.
Add ¼ cup water.
Cover and steam 5–6 minutes until cooked through.
